Dans l'Histoire, des incidents ont souvent eu lieu au Pays Basque, à la frontière franco-espagnole, entre Hendaye et Irun ou Fontarrabie.

"MAC-MAHON" ET "JAVELOT" SUR LA BIDASSOA.

Ces deux navires surveillaient la frontière franco-espagnole, pour leurs pays respectifs France et Espagne, à l'embouchure de la Bidassoa.
